AUSDenver Seeks to Connect Outback Businesses to Colorado | Company

A group of Australian businesses new to Denver have partnered with the city to form the AUSDenver Business Hub at Galvanize Denver Platte, 1644 Platte St., according to a press release.

The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization says its goal is to support “business relationships between Australian businesses and the business community in Colorado.”

“We are delighted to launch our own business center and continue our work to build a strong Australian business community in the city of Denver,” Chairman James Waddell said in the statement. “This is made possible through the partnership with Galvanize Denver (Platte) and the City and County of Denver. We welcome the first seven Australian companies (that have) landed at our hub, based outside the Galvanize factory, and we look forward to recruiting more to our business community in the near future.

Waddell is also Australia’s honorary consul and has been in Denver for almost 20 years. He was previously with the Downtown Denver Partnership.

“There’s a (healthy) ecosystem on the ground here,” Waddell said in an interview. “It’s a lot easier to get Australian businesses to choose Denver with this. … They’re not even trying San Francisco or New York anymore – they’re coming here.”

Of the seven companies at the Galvanize facility, two established a presence in Denver after being wooed by incentives from the state’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

• Acclime, a consulting firm that markets itself as a “leading provider of professional training, accounting, tax, human resources and consulting services,” according to its website.

• Assignar, a cloud-based construction operations software platform that was founded in Sydney. It has raised more than $30 million in funding since its inception in 2014, according to For job postings, visit

• Agriwebb, also launched in Australia in 2014, operates “livestock business management software (that) measures and provides information about what is happening on the farm,” according to its website. He has several open positions in Denver on

• Finder, a fintech company that provides users with an app-based financial comparison tool to make personal shopping decisions, started operations in Denver in 2021 and plans to hire up to 200 people in years to come. Denver openings are on

• Humanitix, an Australian not-for-profit ticketing company, chose Denver as its US headquarters last year. The “compassionate capitalism” company donates “100% of its profits from booking fees to social causes in partnership with its network of children’s charities”, according to Humanitix. Australian tech company chooses Denver for its second US hub

AUSDenver will soon announce a series of business networking events and seminars.

“As Denver’s global footprint has grown over the past five years, we have appreciated the momentum created by our connections and exchanges with Australia and Australia-based businesses,” said the Mayor of Denver. Waddell said Colorado and Australia share many similarities when it comes to pioneering spirit.

“Colorado is pretty welcoming,” he said. “A collaborative nature exists between the non-profit and for-profit worlds in Colorado that really resonates with Australians.”

The partnership with Galvanize has helped, he said.

“For companies that come in and grow, it’s very flexible. Galvanize offered some really good deals, but we kind of negotiated in bulk,” Waddell said. “Galvanize was really responsive. They understood “. Other office space companies we spoke to saw this more as transactional than collaborative.”
