Special programs for women entrepreneurs

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) have joined forces to provide opportunities for women to receive vocational training to launch their entrepreneurial careers, as well as an opportunity for female entrepreneurs current.

The Center of Excellence for Social Innovation (CESI) at IIMK, in collaboration with NCW and, will create and implement a collaborative online training program to foster and develop the entrepreneurial capacity of women entrepreneurs. The program will be offered bilingually in English and Malayalam to boost awareness and accessibility, according to a press release posted to Kozhikode on May 10.

Aspiring female entrepreneurs can now choose between two specific programs, the Basic Entrepreneurship Program and the Advanced Entrepreneurship Program, which are tailored to their current job and skills. Lectures, seminars, corporate keynotes and major mentorship from various subject matter experts are included in the four-month short-term programs, which include sixty hours of online and interactive learning.

“Innovation and entrepreneurship are the buzzwords around which the history of the 21st century will be scripted,” said Professor Debashis Chatterjee, Director of the IIMK, while announcing the unique partnership. Entrepreneurship has long been a male-dominated activity, with far fewer women taking it up as a means of empowerment. IIMK is a leader in gender diversity, and we are sure that collaborations like this will change the current quo and unlock the latent potential of female entrepreneurs. Now is the time to support women who want to start businesses and learn the skills and insights that will enable them to build and run sustainable businesses that will improve the world.”

“Women have a vital role to play in India’s economic roadmap,” said NWC member and secretary Meeta Rajivlochan. We hope to promote access to information, encourage female entrepreneurs and pave the way for a happy, balanced and prosperous India through their work with IIMK and NCW.”

“The Women’s Entrepreneurship Program reinforces the IIMK’s commitment to women’s development and social responsibility,” said Professor Priya Nair Rajeev, Head of CESI.
